We have 17 private rooms (No ensuite) with a double bed and a single bed – which can accommodate 1 to 3 persons – and with a kitchenette (sink, mini fridge, kettle, toaster, crockery, cuttlery, tea, coffee).
We are also a camping ground with a lot of powered and non-powered sites.
We have communal facilities : big fully equipped kitchen, 3 mixed bathrooms with 2 coin operated showers each at $2 per 3 min and 2 toilets each, 3 laundries with a coin operated washing machine and dryer at $3 per cycle.
The accommodation is an old building from the 70s, built for forest workers to live in. We keep it clean and renovated what we could, it still keeps its vintage style!
As we are trying to be sustainable and eco-friendly, we planted all around the grounds hundreds of native trees and plants, and created some organic gardens with fruit trees (apple, peach, plum, feijoa), vegetables (tomato, courgette, silverbeet, parsnip, etc.), berries (strawberry, raspberry, blackcurrant) and herbs (parsley, sage, rosemary, mint, etc.). You can purchase them and even have some of our homemade jams/chutneys/pickles. While you’re touring you can visit our chickens and ducks by the pond, they love when people give them some bread! and they give nice tasty eggs in return.
As a chef, i want to offer the opportunity for travellers to enjoy our local products and share a gourmet meal at dinner if they wish the full experience. We can also provide an early buffet breakfast for the ones going to hike the Hump Ride Track – but any guest is welcome to join – and pack lunch for the hikers too.
So we love our little corner of paradise, even if the weather is quite a four season type at all times, the sunrises and sunsets are amazing, the surroundings are breath taking (Fiordland, South Coast beaches), we hope you will enjoy it too!
